Results for Wednesday 9th August 2023

Twenty four runners lined up at the start line next to the steps of Westminster Bridge for the second time in over three years. There was much jollity.

Karmen Pardoe is running a marathon at the weekend - in memory of her father - and was today on the timing roster.  Michael Trott was handing out the finish tokens, rostering people at the start, and generally corralling runners into the spirit of the race.  Colin Harris was collating the results. Thank you once again to all the volunteers - we couldn't do it without you.

I've thanked Corre Libre before - they are the race in Gibraltar who supply us with the app (in fact it is a gentleman called Mitch).  He's done an update to the app, for which we will be eternally grateful.

We've now registered 111 runners since we started in June, of which 37 signed up for Wednesday's race, and 24 ran.  We welcomed 11 new runners to the race!

We need runners to do two things:

1.  Sign up to the WhatsApp Group

2.  Promote the race to your Clubs and work colleagues

Next month - Wednesday 20th September is a week later than normal - sorry.  Sign up now https://www.threebridgesrace.uk/signupfornextrace

The race was won by John O'Shea - who has been a stalwart of this race for many years.  A well deserved win.  He won the Hanscomb Trophy.

We had a few learning experiences.  The first was the method of sending people off at the start - in future, we'll do it in defined waves.  Here's the waves https://www.threebridgesrace.uk/runners

The second was the start and the finish.  It's a bit crowded with tourists, tour groups and covid visitors.  We may just have to move 50 meters up the Albert Embankment .  We've got a poll running below...

See you next month!  But only if you sign up for the next race......

HERE'S THE IMPORTANT BIT: To make the race really efficient, you need to sign up for every race and we no longer take sign ups on the day. We load an app with all the people who have signed up - but this obviously requires you to tell us in good time you'll be taking part (before 6pm the previous day). No sign up : no time.
